Publication Dates: We are not yet certain what the publication date will be.

Compensation: We are not able to offer any kind of stipend for submissions, but if you would like to make a donation to this project we could definitely use the funds! You can make donations via The Icarus Project here. Please send us an email at scarsongs@gmail.com to let us know that you made the donation!

Topics and focus: We are only going to accept a limited number of pieces that focus primarily on the wounding and traumatization without reflecting, on some level, on the process of surviving/healing/recovering. While we want to give space for the horrors and the memories, we also want to create space for the resilience and recovery. We want to have a rounded balance of pieces that also include perspectives on learning, support, integration, survival strategies, and analysis. We would like to have some analytical pieces - looking at the social and political contexts in which trauma occurs, and how and why healing trauma is important to liberation movements. While we want to investigate personal trauma and healing, we also want to look at collective traumatization and healing and how personal and social healing are interlinked.

Questions for authors to consider: What do you want to communicate to potential readers? What would be helpful to other people? What have you learned over time? What coping strategies have been helpful? How have you survived? What are your thoughts/feelings/intuitions around how to get from where we are now to what you would like to see?
